Notes

We are committed to Rent Responsibly standards. This means we follow best-in-class guidelines to ensure you have a peaceful, safe and memorable stay with us. We care a lot about maintaining good relationships with our community, so we appreciate you following these "house rules" during your stay.

LODGING AGREEMENT: The guest booking the property must digitally sign a lodging agreement immediately following the reservation. The most important terms of the agreement are included below, and the guest may cancel a booking penalty free within 24 hours. If the lodging agreement is not completed with 24 hours then the reservation will be cancelled. The agreement will be sent via text message, so please be sure your phone number is correct before booking.

AGE 25 OR OLDER TO BOOK: The guest booking the property must be 25 years of age or older. We reserve the right to request a photo or scan of a government-issued photo ID. The guest who books must stay at the property--you may not book for others if you do not intend to stay at the property.

QUIET HOURS START AT 10 PM: Our property's quiet hours of 10 pm to 6 am are required by county ordinance and enforced by local police. If the police respond to a noise complaint, every individual on the property may face a misdemeanor criminal charge and be subject to a fine by the county of $300. Failure to abide by the county noise ordinance will result in the immediate termination of the stay without refund.

Past noise complaints have always come from groups of 20-somethings. If you are booking for a group of people in their twenties and you think your group may want to play loud music at any time then do not book this property or cancel your reservation if you have already booked. Find another place for your trip so you do not have your trip terminated early and without refund.

NOISE MONITORING AND SECURITY CAMERA: We use devices that measure volume levels throughout the property (like a smoke detector but for noise) and allow us to respond to noise nuisances before the police are called. The devices are triggered primarily by sustained periods of loud music, not things like loud talking or laughter (which is encouraged!). The devices do not record audio and are 100% privacy compliant. We also have a security camera that records the front door and driveway. This allows us to facilitate remote check in and monitor the property between guests.

DAMAGE WAIVER: Every stay is backed by a Safely damage waiver. Guests will not be held responsible for damage caused during their stay if 1) the damage is accidental, and 2) the damage is reported as soon as possible, and by no later than the check out time.

POSSIBLE BACKGROUND CHECK: We reserve the right to use a third-party to verify the guest's identity and check criminal databases to finalize the reservation. Complete terms regarding the guest verification are provided in the lodging agreement, and can be provided sooner upon request.

NO MUSIC OUTDOORS: This is a quiet, family-friendly lake community, not a place to party. Residents and guests alike come here to relax amid the peace and quiet of the lake. Because of this, and because sound carries so easily across the lake, we do not allow guests to play any music outdoors. Other reasonable noise, from children playing outside, for example, is no problem.

NO PETS: No exceptions, sorry. Please don't ask whether we can allow your perfectly house-trained, hypoallergenic labradoodle to join because we can't :-)

SNOW-INS: During the winter, there is a good chance that a significant snow storm could restrict access in and out of the cabin. The roads are plowed, but not always promptly. 4 wheel drive is highly recommended in the event of a snow storm, and you need to use good judgement as to whether to cancel a trip before it begins or leave the cabin early.

HEATING IN WINTERTIME: When temperatures drop below freezing, you need to use the wood stove to properly heat the cabin. YOU MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE BUILDING INDOOR FIRES TO STAY HERE IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER. There is sufficient baseboard heat in the two downstairs bedrooms, but the living room and loft area are only served by a single baseboard heater and a gas heater, which are not sufficient by themselves to heat the place during freezing weather. Therefore, you must build an adequate fire to keep the living room and loft area warm.

WOOD STOVE: You are encouraged to use the wood stove as long as you do so carefully! Always keep the stove door securely shut unless you are actively putting logs inside the stove. The stove can get very hot, so be sure to keep small children away whenever a fire is burning. We do not guarantee there will be firewood or fire starter at the cabin, so it is best to bring your own. The River Country Store 1.5 mi away sells bundles of wood.

SMOKING: Smoking is never allowed inside the house. You may smoke outside as long as you clean up after yourself. You may not litter cigarette butts on the deck, in the yard, or anywhere else--butts must go in the trash after they have cooled off. If smoking inside the screened porch, please turn on the fan so that the smoke does not linger and leave a smell.

NUMBER OF GUESTS: It is important to have the correct number of guests on the reservation, so please update accordingly if the number changes after you first book. Sleeping 8 people will require 2 people in each queen bed and 1 in each twin bed. If the cabin is filled to capacity, 4 people will be sleeping in the loft and sharing the 1 small bathroom up there. There are only enough plates, glasses, etc. for a maximum of 8 people, and the septic plumbing cannot handle more than 8 people at once. Only registered guests are allowed to use the home, day or night.

SHEETS: At the end of your stay, please strip the sheets off the beds that were used and leave the sheets on top of the beds.

PARKING: There is room for up to 4 cars in the driveway, but if parking more than 2 cars, you might have to box in other cars by parking behind them.

AIR CONDITIONING: There are two window unit air conditioners at the cabin. In addition to the two window units, there are lots of ceiling fans. Together these should keep the cabin interior in the 70s on all but the very hottest of days, but be aware that cooling into the low 70s or 60s likely won't be possible in summertime.

BRING OR RENT YOUR OWN BOATS: We do not offer kayaks or other boats to guests. The Mountain Lake Club on the lake does rent boats from Memorial Day to Labor Day, including at least one pontoon boat. No gas-powered boats are allowed on the lake--only small electric motors are allowed.

BUGS: This is a cabin in the woods--that means there are lots of bugs, especially in the summertime. Even if you are very careful, some of those bugs will find their way into the house. The best way to minimize the number of bugs inside is to enter and exit through the screened porch as often as possible. You must also carefully clean up the kitchen every night and securely package up all food to keep out bugs and mice. We have had to deal with mice before and no one wants that again!

THIN WALLS: Past guests have commented that sound travels easily between floors and between bedrooms. Therefore, this cabin is best suited for families and those with whom you feel very comfortable!

WAIVER OF LIABILITY FOR USE OF HOT TUB AND/OR LAKE: The hot tub remains open year round. If you use the hot tub it is your responsibility to ensure the water remains chemically balanced and safe to use before you use it. By using the hot tub and/or the lake you agree to follow all house rules associated with it and you release the owner of the property from all liability relating to injuries that may occur while using the hot tub and/or the lake, regardless of whether injuries are caused by negligence.

SEPTIC SYSTEM: This house has a septic system. Grease and oil must never be allowed down any of the sink drains. Feminine hygiene products must be thrown away in a trash can and not flushed down a toilet. Never flush solid trash down the toilet or into a sink drain.

NO FIREWORKS: Fireworks are not allowed.

NO FIREARMS: Guests may not bring firearms or ammunition inside the house.

NO ILLEGAL DRUGS: Guests may not possess or consume any illegal drugs on the property, including cannabis.

Beautiful home❤️.

Stephanie (review from Airbnb)
This was an incredible rental cabin inside and out. Clean, inclusive of amenities, lots of space and many ways to maximize our comfort. Very detailed instructions and helpful recommendations for activities.

Cecile (review from Airbnb)
My husband and I stayed here for a few days, and OH MY was it gorgeous!! We are definitely coming back!

Steve (review from Airbnb)
We had a great time at the cabin! It was perfect for a long weekend away playing board games and sitting in the screened porch. It was as described in the listing and had beautiful views. We’ll definitely be back!

Kimberly Joie (review from Airbnb)
Everything is fantastic.nice place

Jorgw (review from Airbnb)
Wonderful stay, perfect to relax, we had an amazing family time, all we needed was there at the house! Thank you so much for such wonderful place!

Adam (review from Airbnb)
Pros: Hits the mark for a nice cabin on a lake. Great view, nice open layout of a floor plan and nice to have the hot tub and wood fire stove. A newer outdoor screened porch looked like in summer would be great.

Cons:
Bathrooms are very out dated, hot tub too.

Was a very very expensive property for a long holiday weekend and price did not reflect the property level that would usually demand the price we paid, so that was disappointing. But demand for weekends does matter, but we felt still just was too high.

Looking now the normal priced weekends way more in line.

Overall a solid cabin with a lovely view.

Conor (review from Airbnb)
Great stay! We loved the cabin and the area. The hot tub was great!

Jennifer (review from Airbnb)
Just what we needed! A peaceful and quiet retreat from the chaos of everyday day life. The host was very communicative at odd hours for random questions. The kids loved the hot tub and seeing the stars. We are grateful for the host allowing us to come back to the cabin when our SUV got stuck in the snow 🙃. We are looking forward to coming back again - this time in the summer 😎.

Matthew (review from Airbnb)
Great place to stay. Relaxing, quiet, and beautiful. Really enjoyed it and recommend.

Juliana (review from Airbnb)
This place was an absolute dream. The view is beautiful, the place is peaceful, the coffee is delicious! I will definitely be back soon. The hosts were great communicators and their instructions were helpful and thorough.

Yasin (review from Airbnb)
It was relaxing few days with the great view with family thank you! Hopefully will visit again!

Mikhail (review from Airbnb)
Absolutely serene lakeside cabin. In good weather, the hot tub under the stars is a great experience

Elizabeth (review from Airbnb)
Mountain Mama was a perfect host! My husband and I chose this absolutely gorgeous a-frame cabin with a hot tub in the deck for an anniversary getaway, and it did not let us down. We will be going back❤️

Lexie (review from Airbnb)
The cabin was beautiful, peaceful, and perfect for a little family vacation.
Moutain Mama does great with helping you feel comfortable and replies quickly.

Aliena (review from Airbnb)
Awesome cabin. Perfect location, beautiful views. Just what we were looking for.

Janelle (review from Airbnb)
Location, location, location!! We absolutely loved this lake front property! It is an experience in itself! The house is situated in the perfect location for a peaceful tranquil getaway. Our favorite was Adirondack chairs by the lake! The view is amazing!! We so enjoyed relaxing on the chairs with a glass of wine or coffee!! The deck & hot tub do not disappoint! The house is very comfy & decorated beautifully! Mountain Momma was an excellent host & easy to reach with questions. We will definitely be back!

Delia (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful cabin, with a very authentic feel, in a charming neighborhood. I stayed for a "refresh" week in between jobs and the trees around the lake were on the cusp of peak foliage -- it was breathtaking and serene. There are a lot of wineries in the vicinity, which I took full advantage of. The host was very responsive to my questions about how to operate the gas heater and how to deal with the very persistent, pesky cat (even though I tried everything in the house manual on both counts). Speaking of the neighborhood cat, I implore subsequent guests to not feed him out of respect for guests who do not jive with cats or rent the cabin for peace & quiet. He's developed quite the entitlement and, on several occasions, meowed loudly outside for hours on end (at the expense of my bedtime). Cat aside, everything else about the cabin was perfection and I would highly recommend!

Becca (review from Airbnb)
The cabin was a nice place to get away and be by calm water. The hot tub was great, clean and well taken care of. The cabin was very clean and relaxing. We especially loved spending time with the cat that came to visit us frequently :).

Allegra (review from Airbnb)
We had a wonderful stay. The cabin looks out over a beautiful little lake that reflected the fall colors changing. We enjoyed the fire place and fire pit, the hot tub, visiting nearby Harper’s Ferry, delicious food, apple picking. It’s a beautiful little house in a lovely location. Highly recommend. Thank you!

David (review from Airbnb)
If you're planning for a place to get away from life's crazy pace. This is it. Budget friendly but you wouldn't guess that with how well maintained and well stocked the cabin is. Convenient to local shops but private enough you feel like you're in your own world.

Karolyn (review from Airbnb)
It was cold and poured rain the weekend we stayed here, but we didn't care. The views were beautiful and we had a lovely, restful weekend just sitting by the fire. We read, we ate, we drank wine and just relaxed. The house is very well appointed and the only thing you might need to bring in addition to food and personal items is extra blankets in case you want to wrap up by the fire (indoors, out or on the screened in porch). Two things I would have liked: firewood supplied by the owners and a hot tub that got above 104 degrees. With the cold outside temps, the water just wasn't hot enough for us to get in. But other than that, it was ideal. We want to go back when we can take advantage of the lake and hiking.

Ashley (review from Airbnb)
Very nice place! Beautiful lake and relaxing vibes!

Kyle (review from Airbnb)
This was a great place to stay! We had 5 guests stay the weekend for a hiking trip and this was a fantastic experience. The residence was very clean and well maintained, the owners were fantastic at communicating and checking in on us. We even found some very minor damage that we relayed to them and they quickly responded and ensured us it would be taken care of immediately. We would absolutely stay here again!

Kyle (review from Airbnb)
amazing stay and location. great bird watching in the morning. easy access to Harper's Ferry. host communication is impeccable. extremely warm and inviting home. we brought our infant and had a great time showing her around the woods and watching animals from the deck. would book again.

Valerie (review from Airbnb)
This cabin is wonderful; it was very peaceful being on the lake. And it's a quick 20 minute drive to the historic part of Harpers Ferry. I would recommend it if you're looking for a quiet place to stay in the area.

Svetlana (review from Airbnb)
Excellent location, gorgeous & cozy house, super responsive host!

Aslam (review from Airbnb)
A great cabin with secluded views. Loved being there

Chelsea (review from Airbnb)
It was okay

Jessie (review from Airbnb)
This was a beautiful home right on the lake. Terrific for kids with lots of games to play. Great kitchen supplies handy for cooking. And lots of space indoors and out.

LorenandJill (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful setting, lovely home. Everything is clean and modern. Really appreciated the excellent communications and service offered by Mountain Mama!

Jeffrey (review from Airbnb)
Overall a beautiful place to stay! The lake exceeded expectations for swimming - clean water and no bugs. Take note that walls are thin so you'll hear kids noise in BRs.

Kassie (review from Airbnb)
We loved our stay at this house in Harpers Ferry! It was just as advertised, had an updated kitchen, and really comfortable beds. Mountain Mama made a fabulous guide book for the house and surrounding area. It made our stay very stress free!
We had a minor issue with a tripped breaker that powered the AC and WiFi, but Mountain Mama quickly responded and we got the issue corrected right away.
I have two young kids (3 & 6) and this house worked well for a family. The kids loved the lake! It is pretty shallow and the kids could easily play in the shallows. The loft sleeping area is great for kids. The railing height is a little low and made me a little nervous because of my kids age, but that is pretty normal for this style of house.
We would definitely come again! On the way home, my daughter said we should move there and stay forever!

Bridget (review from Airbnb)
What a great little getaway! The house is cozy, well furnished with beautiful views of the lake. We really enjoyed the fact that we could roll out of bed, walk down to the lake, and start catching fish! If you’re looking for a place to escape the stress and busy-ness of real life, look no further! We will definitely be back!

Kellee (review from Airbnb)
The stay was exactly as listed. It was close enough to attractions while still feeling like you were tucked away. The views were amazing and the house was decorated so nicely. Would absolutely stay here again!

Luke (review from Airbnb)
Very strict noise ordinance as long as you’re not loud party it’s a oasis away from home!

Yolanda (review from Airbnb)
It was a great experience, communication was great. I absolutely recommend.

Anke (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful spot to have a get away hidden from busy life. We a family of 6 with 4 kids, truly enjoyed the lake and cozy lifestyle in the house. We definitely loved the fire place in the night and kids were excited about the upstairs beds. We had a real fun time.

Ashley (review from Airbnb)
This is a quaint and perfect getaway!

Galina (review from Airbnb)
Charming place. Loved the lake and peaceful surroundings. Very close to Harpers Ferry’s hiking trails.
We want to be back soon.

Jenn (review from Airbnb)
My husband and I really enjoyed the view and the quiet surroundings. Accurate listing, clean cabin.

Coji (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful home with everything you ckukd need and want from a lake rental. The hosts are very communicative and the instructions are easy to find and super clear. We happened to rent it just for a day in between rentals and it was a great value. It was worth it even just for the day.

Tzvi (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful place

Justin (review from Airbnb)
Peaceful lake only 30min further out than Leesburg. Great for getting away from beltway for a few days. We loved it.

Alex (review from Airbnb)
Please be careful when choosing this house. Rooms has no A/C and it was super hot in them for us, or if you booking in winter, it will be super cold. The whole house only has one TV. Very Inconvenient if you have two families. Rooms have no TVs at all. Lake has mud on the bottom, there is no sand and be careful of the snakes. Lots of them in the lake. No activities to do around town. Pretty dead area. Fishing is catch and release only and please make sure you have a fishing license. House is managed by a company, that is very unresponsive to renter's needs. Overall, would not come back to the house.

Response:
Unfortunately Alex seems to be running an extortion racket where he extracts refunds for Airbnb stays by threatening to leave a bad review if the host doesn’t comply. His past reviews demonstrate a history of cancelling stays on specious grounds. We didn’t take the bait, and this review is his retaliation. I’d encourage people to compare this review against the other 300+ reviews for this property, as they are nothing like this.

Corrie (review from Airbnb)
Extremely great location and house was very clean! I’d definitely rent here again!

Dorri (review from Airbnb)
When we booked this vacation, my only requirement was that I wanted some place relaxing where I can drink a cup a coffee in front of the water. I'm so glad Mountain Mama was came up on my search. The location is private enough without feeling remote, and the lake is absolutely beautiful - full of turtles, fish and other wildlife - including a blue heron who visited both evenings we were there. Additionally, the cabin was just perfect! It was incredibly clean and stocked with the essentials. The beds were comfortable, the hot tub was perfectly situated, and the screened in porch was awesome for the little bit of rain that came. Not only would we visit again, but I have already recommended these accommodations to friends and relatives. Definitely a five star stay!

Rakeen (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful location, well furnished! There is a cat that comes by the house a lot and wants to play, so just be aware if you happen to be allergic to cats but otherwise everything was perfect

Yulan (review from Airbnb)
My friends and I spent two nights here and it was such a wonderful experience! We all loved the cabin and the breathtaking views. The host was very nice and responsive. We will definitely come back.

David (review from Airbnb)
A beautiful house in a beautiful location, with highly communicative and kind hosts. Can't recommend enough – I'm hoping to come back again next year (or even later this year!)

Suzanne (review from Airbnb)
Beautifully furnished large cabin that can sleep a couple of families. Perfect location on the water, and the fishing is top notch! This will be a new favorite getaway of ours!

Rolf (review from Airbnb)
Good spacious and beautiful property - well located for those who want stay at a front lake property, good amenities - hot tub infect of the lake is outstanding, we are a family of four and the property was super big for us
Location Is good for those who like to experience the Harpers Ferry area

Brandon (review from Airbnb)
This truly is a beautiful cabin and easy to get to. Very comfy with all the amenities. It was great having such easy access to the lake. Good communication with the hosts.

Ivan (review from Airbnb)
Amazing spot. Easily the cleanest hot tub I've ever been in. Host was fantastic at communication would 100% recommend

Brooklyn (review from Airbnb)
This cabin tucked in the woods is so nice and cozy. It’s clean and set up very nicely. We highly enjoy being right on the lake with gorgeous views.

Emma (review from Airbnb)
It’s even prettier than the pictures! We had such a nice time and many of my friends are already thinking they will book there in the future too.

Lynn B. (review from Vrbo)
Perfect cabin
7 adults stayed comfortably - great place, excellent communication from owner, spotlessly clean.
Bonus - thought the loft would be more of a kid space - but 4 adults slept up there comfortably!!
Dock/lake/bird watching- so relaxing!!

Janna (review from Airbnb)
Exactly as pictured. The location is amazing, such a pleasant place to spend some time away. Close to Harpers Ferry and area vineyards. Would definitely book again!

Gregory R. (review from Vrbo)
Clean and comfortable!!
Everything was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. This place is like a nice hotel with nature at your fingertips. Great place to stay!!!

Elaina (review from Airbnb)
Love this cabin! Well stocked for us to cook and lovely outdoor space to enjoy the lake. A bit close in proximity to neighbors and a bit far from Harper's Ferry (20 min) but if you're looking for a quiet cabin getaway, this is a great place.

Molly (review from Airbnb)
A lovely spot for a get away with family or friends. The house is beautifully decorated and the hot tub, fire pit, and wood burning stove made for a really relaxing stay! The hosts made sure we had everything we needed and were super quick to respond to any questions. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!!

Marissa (review from Airbnb)
Everything was perfect for our two night getaway for my wife’s birthday. I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking at the Harpers Ferry area in WV. Amazing hosts.

Colleen (review from Airbnb)
We really enjoyed our stay! The view of the lake was lovely and the house was very comfortable. In particular, we found the beds and linens very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked (with coffee, sugar, salt, etc) and easy to use. Communication with the hosts was very prompt, helpful, and friendly, which we also really appreciated!

Lisa (review from Airbnb)
The house was well stocked and clean.

Nadia (review from Airbnb)
This is a lovely cabin on the lake with lots of amenities. Be sure to read the house rules before arriving so you are familiar. The upstairs loft is a lovely space especially for a group of teenagers like our group. There isn’t a lot of sound insulation between floors, so light sleepers beware.

We didn’t venture out much as we were only there for a weekend and got snowed in Saturday which was lovely. There is a country store not far away if you forget any basics with some local gift options. If you come in colder months, be sure to bring firewood for the wood burning stove.

Nashwan (review from Airbnb)
My family and I enjoyed our time in this beautiful cabin! Great location with a beautiful view! Coming back during the summer time for sure!

Elisabeth (review from Airbnb)
Such a great place! Tucked away with great views. House was clean, functional and super cozy. The wood burning stove was so great to use and the house has everything you need. Love to go back!

Bridget (review from Airbnb)
We had an outstanding time at this cabin. Loved the view and style of the cabin and outside space. HIGHLY recommend. Kids loved it too. :)

Maggie (review from Airbnb)
lovely house and location. well-appointed and ideal house for young kids. thanks for a great stay!

Cat (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful house and the hosts were very communicative and straight forward. Definitely recommend this for a family or small group of friends.

Simone (review from Airbnb)
My girlfriends and I enjoyed the cabin. Beds were comfy, everything was clean and tidy. The wood stove was amazing- and easy to use as this was our first time using one. Please bring your own lighter, fire starter and lots of wood. There is a place not far that you can buy some (as the host said) The cabin is easily heated by thermostats in every room, so you aren’t relying solely on the wood stove or gas heater. We were able to walk in the morning- roads were pretty clear and we were able to see views of the lake. Because of the time of year- we didn’t venture off the main road. We wanted to explore with a drive, and so we drove about 12 miles out. We had dinner and drinks at Brix27 Wine and Bar in Martinsburg. Small town and friendly people. A couple of us were still working remotely and had no issues with the internet connection at the cabin. Definitely a great find. My only regret is that we didn’t get to use the hot tub. The weather was perfect for it. We all agreed we would stay here again.

Response:
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! I'm sorry to hear you had trouble heating the hot tub above 99 degrees. We spent some time troubleshooting the issue you described and were not able to recreate it. We've had several guests stay since you checked out and none of them have had any difficulty with the hot tub temperature. If you had let us know during your stay we might have been able to provide some simple pointers to help. In any case, the hot tub seems to be working as well as ever.

Samantha (review from Airbnb)
great cabin & getaway location

Kyle (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful views. Great place year round!

Salim (review from Airbnb)
I cannot recommend this cabin enough! The location was excellent with a few small towns nearby if you need to stock up on essentials or buy firewood. The cabin itself was well kept and such a joy to stay in with a fantastic view of the lake! Eddie and Mountain Mama were great hosts and communication was excellent. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Douglas (review from Airbnb)
GOOD: Beautiful location and view, nice dishware and kitchen appliances, high-end furniture and amenities.
BAD: Exceptionally thin walls between bedrooms (best to go with family), musty towels, had to clean out wood stove before use, high price of $2,000 for only three nights.

Joshua (review from Airbnb)
We really enjoyed ourselves here and plan to come back very soon! Everything was as expected and more.

Liz (review from Airbnb)
We had a nice time staying at this cabin. It was great for our week-long group trip.

Claire (review from Airbnb)
Lovely cabin with beautiful views. Perfect size for two couples to have a peaceful retreat. We had a great time.

Tania (review from Airbnb)
Lovely place! Great for big families it had 6 beds. Very clean super nice! Loved the fireplace and jacuzzi but it was a bit dirty. Can’t wait to come back in the summer and go for a swim in the lake!

Eddie's place was a fantastic spot to stay for a weekend away in the mountains!

Caroline (review from Airbnb)
This was a lovely cabin, perfectly sized for our family of four. Eddie was a wonderful host who always made himself available to answer any questions or address concerns (although we ended up not having any!) The cabin was clean, inviting, and equipped with many items suitable for our two toddlers (high chair, booster seat, blocks, books, etc.) We hope to return again!

Julia (review from Airbnb)
Great location, wonderful for our family. We stayed here with our three small children and they had a blast. They loved the small beach, the books and puzzles. A good stay for families looking to unplug.

Laura (review from Airbnb)
Exactly as described, in a great location, with phenomenal communication. Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful cabin with great view
We had a great stay in this fabulous cabin! The room is clean, cozy and well-maintained. The view outside is wonderful! Such a great place for a relaxing weekend.

Fantastic cabin on the lake and a great escape. The host was also fantastic and made the experience incredibly easy.

Dina (review from Airbnb)
an amazing cabin get away!!

David (review from Airbnb)
Eddie met us when we arrived and even let us in a few minutes early which was a godsend given our three very young children excited to get out of our car. We really enjoyed our time this weekend. It's a nice, peaceful place for young families like ours. Overall, it was a great, easy stay with absolutely gorgeous views all around.

Roberta (review from Airbnb)
Very great place.

Frouzan (review from Airbnb)
very nice property, quite, peaceful, spectacular view. The host ver quick to respond.

Great spot! Super pretty little area and lots to do at the house. Eddie + his team were great and checkin / out were easy too.

Family Fun
Great quiet location. There was activity on the lake but electric motors only so very enjoyable. The kids played in the sand for hours. The water is shallow with lots of little fish to watch. Saw crayfish, painted turtles, snapping turtles, egrets, and herons.

Kavitash (review from Airbnb)
The first thing that struck us as we entered this beautiful home was how clean and tastefully decorated it was. The location is gorgeous - early morning tea in the covered porch - evening wine by the lake.. it was the prefect place to spend the last week of summer with our teenage kids. The house has so many thoughtful touches - high quality furnishings, extra towels, extra beach towels, top end toiletries, hangers, laundry supplies, kitchen supplies, games & puzzles - and very comfortable beds!
The guest guidebook provided on booking is very detailed. Eddie and Mary have taken a lot of effort to make it so simple to find everything in the house as well as suggestions of things to do around Harpers Ferry. Eddie is super responsive. He messaged us the day we were checking in to make sure we had the code and all the information we needed to be comfortable. He responded to any questions we had promptly. The phmonitor for the spa hot tub wasn't working- so Eddie came by himself to check the water quality manually to make sure it was OK for us to use.
Its a great house, in a great location , with great hosts. We will definitely be back again! Thank you Eddie & Mary. You care about your home and it shows :)

Jessica (review from Airbnb)
The cabin and lake were beautiful. It was the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. Eddie was a very communicative host and the provided guide was very helpful. Our group would definitely come back in the future!

Moshe (review from Airbnb)
My family and I stayed here after hiking in Seneca Rocks for four days. We were looking for a nice place to unwind and refresh after roughing it in the woods. We felt both that and a serene environment where our two small children could swim, play and learn to fish in peace and quiet.

The house was lovely with high quality amenities, comfort, and a picturesque view of the lake. Eddie was also very responsive to our questions, though everything was self explanatory. A great stay overall.

Gabriela (review from Airbnb)
It's a very nice, quiet place with a beautiful view of the lake. The house can sleep many people. The host doesn't like dogs, so don't think of bringing any (even the tiniest one). To enjoy it, you should stay more than 1 night because they offer a very late check-in and very early check-out (by 11 am). So if you come for 1 night, it's not worth it. The host has MANY rules and was very strict about them. The House Manual is long and quite confusing and you HAVE to read it if you want to use the jacuzzi (otherwise is locked and you won't get a code to it). Grill didn't work, so don't plan on using it.
Otherwise, house was very clean and set up in a beautiful place. I wish the host would offer some sort of a paddling boat or a kayak to enjoy the lake...

Response:
I’m sorry that Gabriela’s expectations were not met, but she would have known exactly what to expect if only she had read the check out time and house rules before booking (or even shortly after booking), like we asked her and all our guests to. First of all, the grill does work--several guests have used the grill without difficulty since Gabriela checked out. It may be that she is unfamiliar with operating a standard propane grill, though our guidebook does contain information on how to use it. If the guidebook was not enough we would have happily helped her use the grill if she had asked, but she never mentioned having any difficulty. Second, it's true that we lock the hot tub between guests, but the combination is included with the hot tub instructions in the guidebook. When we send check in instructions we specifically tell guests they can find the combination in the guidebook, but I’m afraid Gabriela didn’t read our short check in instruction message. Third, Gabriela did not break any of the house rules and we never spoke with her specifically about any particular house rule, so I’m not sure what made her say we were very strict about them. Almost all the house rules are pretty straight-forward, common sense, and typical for a vacation rental. For one thing, we love dogs, it’s just that we can’t welcome them to this property. In any case, we are very clear about the rules in the listing description and upon booking remind guests to review the rules and make sure they are OK with them. We understand those rules don’t work for everyone, but if Gabriela took issue with any of the rules she never said so to us and she decided to book the property anyway. Fourth, our check in (3 pm) and check out times (11 am) are standard for the industry, and like our house rules, are made clear at the time of booking. On the morning of check out we send a message to all our guests with the check out instructions and a gentle reminder that the check out time is 11 am. Our cleaners have very short windows and many properties to clean and get ready for the next guest to check in at 3 pm, so it’s a courtesy to them to be out of the property promptly at 11 am. Gabriela responded that she thought the check out time was noon (which is exactly why we remind guests that it’s 11 am). I think it’s unfair to give us a poor review for the check out time when it’s the time she agreed to upon booking the property.

Douglas (review from Airbnb)
Fantastic cabin tucked away in the woods on a beautiful clean lake. Tons of beds and sleeping space, beautiful kitchen and living room, and great screened in porch. Little beach area perfect for fishing and a cool swim platform to swim to and jump off

Brooke (review from Airbnb)
My family and I had an amazing time! Beautiful location, clean place, couldn’t have been happier!

Mridula (review from Airbnb)
A great spot for a group or family of 4-7 people. This house is part of a larger neighborhood, so probably not the place to go if you're looking for a secluded venue. The best features were the beautiful views of the lake and direct private access to it. If you do decide to take a swim, be prepared to be exposed to the elements of a lake (bugs, weeds, etc.) It is a quiet, peaceful area and the place has a sunroom perfect for reading. Eddie was a great host, communicated well and gave us lots of recommendations for nearby activities. The kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms were all well stocked. Checking in and out was really easy. The only thing I would point out is setting up the hot-tub before use: it was a fairly complex process, and I would've liked it to be taken care of beforehand (in the end, we wound up not using the hot tub). Other than that, it was a great place and I would recommend it to anyone willing to comply with all the rules.

Response:
It sounds like you and your group had a wonderful time at the cabin, aside from a couple things which I’ll address below. You’re right that the lake has bugs and weeds, but that’s unavoidable with any lake. We even warn guests specifically about bugs. I’m surprised you had trouble with the spa since we’ve invested in a system (pHin) that makes spa water care as easy as possible: the pHin app (in conjunction with the in-water monitor) tells you exactly which chemicals to add and when. The chemicals are even pre-measured in color-coded pods. I took a look at the chemical level history from the dates of your stay, and the app instruction should have been as easy as “add one orange pod”. In any case, we are always standing by to answer questions about the spa (or anything else!) and are eager to do whatever we can to help our guests have a great stay. You never asked about the spa, and you didn’t mention having any trouble when we reached out mid-stay to see if there was anything we could do for you. We’d encourage future guests to communicate any issues to us as they come up. We’re here to help!

Ralph (review from Airbnb)
The cabin is very comfortable and beautifully situated, conveying an impression of utter privacy in a tranquil setting. Eddie is an excellent host, and was very responsive to our questions -- for example, patiently walking us through a "how to get TV reception" query that involved diagnosing that an easy-to-fix problem. We had a delightful stay and hope to return.

Michael (review from Airbnb)
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cabin on the lake. The house is beautiful, clean, well appointed, and sits in an amazing location. Eddie was a fantastic host- great communication and very clear instructions on every aspect of the house. We can’t recommend highly enough and will definitely be back!

Hannah (review from Airbnb)
The cabin is beautiful! We had a great visit. Good space and cute beds for the kids in the loft area. Comfy beds for the adults downstairs. We loved the huge windows with great views. The kitchen was new with nice appliances. We didn't get a chance to rent a boat on the lake, but it would have been lovely!

Andrew (review from Airbnb)
The location of this home is excellent. Secluded with beautiful lake views/access, with a general store just a five minute drive away for any items you may have forgotten. Very comfortably accommodated 7 adults for a weekend.

This place has an extremely detailed guest book which leaves nothing to question. We ended up cancelling all other plans because hanging out at the house/by the lake was so enjoyable.

Jane (review from Airbnb)
This property is very well kept, clean, and has all of the amenities to truly enjoy your time there. I cannot wait to return with the family to enjoy the lake. Thank you Eddie for being so responsive and providing a very easy check-in process.

Katherine (review from Airbnb)
We had a lovely, calm weekend at the cabin - the guidebook was comprehensive, and the host was super communicative to boot. There's lots to do in Harper's Ferry...and we did none of it because we were enjoying just sitting and looking out at the lake from the deck and the dock, making crafts with the supplies we'd brought, and chatting while sipping coffee in the woods.

Only one thing to note: sound really does carry across the lake, so you may hear the neighbors more clearly than you would imagine. But that didn't negatively impact our stay in the slightest!

Kimberly (review from Airbnb)
There is only one complaint. When the description stated quite time from 10 PM to 6 AM, I did not realize that meant the TV volume also got shut off. Other than that the place was amazing!! The cabin was warm and welcoming. You were close but yet it did not feel like you were on top of each other!! The view was gorgeous! There is other houses around but you feel like you are all alone. My family had a wonderful time on our vacation.

Response:
Sorry, Kimberley! The TV volume should not be turning off at 10 PM. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay!

Matt (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful place, right on the lake. Great stay and close to lots of attractions in the area.

Jodie (review from Airbnb)
Awesome cabin. Such a relaxing fun retreat!

Frouzan (review from Airbnb)
Great place!

Andrea (review from Airbnb)
Amazing place! Had a blast with my husband and 18 months old son. The slide at the beach was a big hit, and I particularly enjoyed swimming at the lake and reading at the screened porch. Can’t wait to go back.

Jessica (review from Airbnb)
Great stay and spectacular view. Very spacious and accommodating. Peaceful location even though neighbors are close by. Those passing by on the lake, and in the area in general, were all friendly and welcoming. It was amazing to wake up to that view. Only disappointment was I didn’t get to utilize the hot tub . Each time I was ready to use it, I would need to add chemicals that required an extended wait time before use. Other than that, I had no disappointments. Check-in was as simple as it can get and the online manual covered EVERYTHING. Didn’t have to contact the Host for really anything other than my concerns about their being no curtains/drapes up but because of how the house is situated on the property, you don’t feel exposed really.

Ram (review from Airbnb)
This cabin is perfect. the Hosts make everything super easy, everything you need provided plus location is great

Amazing cabin with an incredible view. Eddie was so responsive and helpful. Will definitely go back!

We had an amazing time at this cabin. It has everything that you’d ever need and is even nicer than the pictures look. We really loved the screened in patio and hot tub. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the view over the lake is incredible. Eddie was extremely responsive and helped us with anything we needed. We will definitely be back!

Connor (review from Airbnb)
Great spot for a cabin getaway! Plenty of beds and awesome areas to pass the time in like the screened in porch, firepit, and dock/beach. Eddie was extremely responsive and provided a ton of information on the home and surrounding area.

Mike (review from Airbnb)
The cabin was everything we hoped it would be! Perfectly photogenic and relaxing. Will definitely be back for warmer weather to take advantage of the lake and lots of great nearby hiking. Thanks again Eddie!

Kelly (review from Airbnb)
We spent a long family weekend at Eddie and Mary's cabin and had a really great time. My 11-year-old daughter said it was "just the vacation she wanted!" The kids fished in the lake, and despite the fact that is was only April, even swam in it! The cabin was a little closer to neighbors than I had expected, but at the same time, we didn't see another soul except a couple of boaters on the lake, so it still felt like a private getaway. Would definitely go back again!

Veronica (review from Airbnb)
Best stay ever! Host was responsive and attentive. Place is as described and even better when you arrive. We look forward to coming back to stay longer.

Michael (review from Airbnb)
This place is better than advertised, the pictures don’t do it due justice. We had a lot of fun in a very serene nature setting. Great local hikes, history and fun outdoor activities. Everything was very clearly communicated and check-in/check-out was a breeze

Fabulous Mountain Mama Cabin!
Our cabin stay was fabulous! The location is beautiful, right on a large lake. The cabin is very nice, with a really great hot tub! Very comfortable and cozy, with a woodstove. The accommodations are very convenient - the owner has thought of everything. We'll definitely be back!

Views were fantastic! Hot tub on a winter night was so delightful. The house was clean and well maintained. Kitchen, bathroom, guest rooms all clean and exactly as described. Perfect place for a getaway not too far from DC but feels like you can really unplug. Host was extremely responsive when we asked a question. Highly recommend.

Timothy (review from Airbnb)
My better half and I visited this property to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Eddie was very communicative and the house manual covers every aspect of the rental and has a lot of information on the area. We arrived the day after a significant snowfall and the roads were clear (however, if you don't drive well in snow often and/or don't have a 4WD vehicle, I would be extra cautious, as the cabin is on a mountain in a neighborhood with narrow lakeside roads). If coming from Maryland during bad weather, I strongly suggest driving to Charlestown, WV and taking 115/Mission Road on the west side of the mountain to avoid the steep climb up Chestnut Hill Road. Still steep at times, but less treacherous.

The deck/walkways around the house were cleared and inside the cabin smelled and looked very clean which was a relief as this was our first post-COVID rental. Eddie left a nice note and a local bottle of wine which was a thoughtful touch. The view of the lake is beautiful, but seeing as we visited on one of the coldest weekends of the year, we mainly enjoyed the wood stove and view from inside which was great. Deck, screened porch, and dock/beach area looks great for better weather and for quality time outdoors. Beds were comfortable and I especially appreciated the noise machines for sleeping at night. Kitchen and bathrooms were well-stocked with all you need for a getaway. I would have appreciated some sort of blinds for the sliding glass doors for privacy, especially at night.

Nick (review from Airbnb)
A great holiday weekend away from DC. The cabin met our needs--scenery, comfort, hot tub, lots of room, fire place and adequate space to cook and eat. Would be interested in trying this spot again in warmer weather to take advantage of the lake. A bit pricey for two nights but also recognize we were up against both Presidents' Day weekend and covid escape related demand. Wouldn't mind a dishwasher install for the next visit as well :) Eddie was very communicative--with detailed info before our stay and connected with me directly prior to check-in and during our stay. Opening up an hour earlier to beat the weather was much appreciated. Thanks, Eddie!

Couldn’t have picked a better place to spend our anniversary. The view, the snow, the cabin. The commute was scenic, check-in went smoothly, communication was clear. Definitely planning to return with the rest of the family soon.

Eddie was super responsive on this last minute booking. Really appreciate stopping by and checking in with us.

This cabin is perfect! The hosts make everything super easy, everything you need plus provided and the location is great - peaceful but a short drive to Harpers Ferry. We were greeted with a lovely local bottle of wine and coasters as a take away to remember or stay. The stove was easy to use and made the cabin quite toasty. Don’t hesitate booking a stay.

I spent my birthday weekend at Eddie’s cozy cabin in West Virginia with seven friends and had the most incredible time! Eddie made sure the space was clean and even left a gift for our arrival. The amenities like the hot tub were a welcome addition to our weekend away, and the views of the lake are absolutely gorgeous.

Eddie was responsive and helpful, and available whenever we needed him. We’re hoping to come back in the summer to enjoy the lake!

A wonderful getaway
This little cabin was perfect for our family of 5. We appreciated the little things for the kids, and the hot tub and lake were great. The back door really does need to be fixed, you can’t open or close it with one hand and the little ones needed help every time they wanted in or out. Eddie was a wonderful and responsive host, we had a great time.

We LOVED staying at Eddies place! It was so perfectly setup next to the lake. We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing night, and the hot tub was the perfect touch. Eddie was always quick to respond when we had a question, and we loved the red chairs out on the dock! We will definitely be back :)

A delightful little cabin. We stayed here as two parents with a toddler. Even in the cold, we loved staying cozy by the fire and playing board games and enjoying family time, along with some nearby hiking on the Appalachian Trail. I imagine it's also paradise in the summer when one can take advantage of the lake! Highly recommend.

Fantastic cabin experience! Looking out from a hot tub at geese swimming in a lake with snow on the ground was heaven! Great communication from the host.

Kreena (review from Airbnb)
Eddie’s place is great! If you’re traveling in a snowstorm like we were then expect a bit of difficulty getting in. You should be fine if you’re driving a big car which is recommended by the owner. They have a snow shovel which was super useful. The cabin is beautiful in the snow and I imagine its great in the summer too. A very clean space that was great for our group of 6. The outdoor seating area is great too. It does take a while for the space to warm up but once we got settled it was perfect.

Jason (review from Airbnb)
I booked this cabin for a reconnecting trip between three old friends in our mid 30s. It couldn't have been more perfect from start to finish and I'll tell you why: We wanted a place to relax that was as cozy as possible. Upon arrival, there was a hand-written note and some local craft beer to welcome us. Whatever your "perfect" relaxation setting is, this cabin probably has it... comfy beds, plush sofa with lots of pillows, high ceilings, wood-burning fireplace, lakeside hot tub and Adirondack chairs, fire pit, full kitchen... there's probably something I'm forgetting. But we enjoyed all of it. It was clean, convenient from the DC area, nicely appointed and very comfortable. Ed was very responsive before, during and after check-out. The online house manual and detailed processes were wonderful and easy to understand. I can't wait to come back with family or friends.

Great Lake Property
My girlfriends and I needed to get away for a couple of days and this was the perfect place. It was cozy, beautiful and relaxing. It is equipped with everything you could need. Like a full kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, down to beach towels. You have everything you need. The property manager was excellent with communication and answered all our questions everytime I got in touch with him. My friends couldn’t stop thanking me for finding this place and have already asked me to book it again soon. Thank you Eddie for making our stay so pleasant. We will definitely be back.

Eddie's cabin is among our favorite stays we have had, and we highly recommend it for a family getaway. It has a rustic feel (which we love) with beautiful scenery from inside and out, and is spacious and very well-equipped. The property is gorgeous, and Eddie is a wonderful host. Great Cozy Cabin by the Lake
Cabin was nice and clean. Check-in and out was entirely remote. Detailed information about cabin features and local restaurants is included in online cabin manual. Cabin and hot tub have a great view of the lake. Was a great place to stay and we are likely to return.

Hayley (review from Airbnb)
This was such a great stay and would return.

Although the house is made for 8+, just my husband and I stayed for a few nights. We knew it was intended to accommodate more people, but wanted the space and the property.

The best part of the house is the backyard views. It is right on the water. Fall foliage was spectacular. Although we could partially see neighbor’s houses from the backyard, we never actually saw any neighbors so it felt private and quiet.

We brought our own fire starter/wood as recommended by the host and other reviewers. Do recommend bringing your own. Outside fire pit was great. Did not use indoor wood stove so cannot comment on it.

Hot tub was easy enough to use and was good for the two of us, but not sure how many people it can accommodate at once. Plenty of space for us two.

More than enough towels, sheets, etc.

Although this very much felt like a cabin in the woods, it felt very comfortable, clean, roomy, and had plenty of amenities. Kitchen appliances worked well.

WiFi was mostly good, but there were occasional blips that resolved themselves quickly. Not a problem for us as we weren’t intending to stay connected the entire time, but noting in the event you are planning to work there remotely, etc.

Host was communicative, but not at all overbearing.

All in all, a great trip. Very comfortable and relaxing. Would recommend for some R&R.

Harper (review from Airbnb)
An amazing cabin set on a serene lake with awesome amenities, comfortable beds and a kitchen that is well equipped. We loved our time here and will return!

Annie (review from Airbnb)
We had a marvelous time staying here. We picked Edward’s cabin because it looked beautiful, and seemed like the perfect spot to unwind for a couple of days. The cabin was exactly what we were hoping for: it was beautiful, spacious, and private. We wanted to “get away” while still being close to Harper’s Ferry and other stores/restaurants, and this fit perfectly! The view of the lake was incredible, and we loved sitting in the screened-in porch. The furniture was clean and comfortable, and having a kitchen stocked with cooking supplies was wonderful. We felt very comfortable with the cleanliness and privacy, which is important in 2020! We definitely plan to return sometime in the future. There were only two of us on this trip, and the cabin was more than spacious. We would love to come back with another couple in the summer to swim and fish! Thank you!!

Jessica (review from Airbnb)
This place is great! It’s open concept, makes efficient use of its space, and has a beautiful view towards the lake. Definitely recommend

Philip (review from Airbnb)
We had a very peaceful, relaxing couple of days at the cabin. The view of the lake is perfect. I didn't bring a fishing pole, which i do regret. Since our trip was early October, it was chilly in the evening. We used the fire pit and cooked hot dogs night one. Then warmed up in the hot tub.

The roads in the area are very narrow. We didn't see much traffic, so that wasn't a problem, but it made my wife nervous. She also had read reviews about people being told they were too loud, so she was unsure how strict it would be. But it was just the two of us, and we had no issue.

The cabin was big for just two of us. We knew it would be, and it was. We fixed bacon, eggs, toast, and coffee each morning, the kitchen has everything we needed. The tv selection was pretty limited, but we weren't trying to watch tv much. Netflix was available, and was perfect.

All in all, it was a great, relaxing, scenic time. There really isn't anything that we found lacking. Bring your own wood for the fire, if you want to do that. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a time to relax.

Everything was as advertised. Comfortable house, beautiful views from the dock, great hiking nearby. The property manager was very accessible. Highly recommend if you're looking to get away for a quiet weekend.

Andrew (review from Airbnb)
Stay was amazing. Room for 6+ people comfortably. Views are incredible, amenities are exceptional and Eddie was as gracious a host as I've ever had. Traditional lake house feel with state of the art equipment and capabilities. Harper's ferry is also such a lovely place to stay.

Phoebe (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful, clean cabin with and amazing location.

Bekah (review from Airbnb)
We loved staying at this cabin - amazing lakefront views, lots of amenities and it was very clean and comfortable. The surrounding environment was very peaceful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

William (review from Airbnb)
We rendezvoused with our adult children and spouses here for a long weekend. The cabin was a great space with a spectacular view. The kitchen was fine for making dinner and the gas grill worked well. We brought coffee mugs based on a previous review, but there were plenty. There were lots of nice bath and beach towels as well as paper towels and toilet paper.
The fire pit was a great setting for relaxing evening conversation. Bring your own wood (the River Country Store had none). Our kids enjoyed using the hot tub on the deck.
We spent one day sightseeing in Harper’s Ferry (difficult weekend parking and no shuttle due to the pandemic) and on part of the Appalachian Trail there. The next day we sampled beverages at Breaux Vineyard, Hillsborough Brewery and Winery, and Bear Chase Brewing – all in Virginia.
If you can afford it, it’s well worth the trip. We would not hesitate to return!

Steven (review from Airbnb)
We met our son and his family (including a 2-year old) for an early Fall visit. The cabin is rustic and family friendly. We were able to enjoy the lake with its small beach and the fire pit (bring your own wood). The living room is cozy and the table was a great place to play games and share meals.

Amazing place to get away. The stay was awesome and the host was amazing through the whole process.

Michelle (review from Airbnb)
We stayed at Edward's house over Labor Day Weekend and had a blast. With a group of 10, it can be tough to find an accommodating spot but Edward's home provided just that. The check-in and check-out process was very easy and we all slept comfortably. The best part was the lake, which we spent all day in and then usually closed out the evening with a fire around the pit! While music isn't allowed outdoors, it provided no issue for my crew as we just chatted along in our lake floats and found the peaceful lake welcoming. It was nice to disconnect from the real world for a few days and enjoy the sunrise and sunset on the dock. Would stay again!

Lacey (review from Airbnb)
I'll start by saying that I would recommend this house for the right renter. It was beautiful and we had a lovely time. I'm going to put it all out there but please do not interpret this as a negative review.

The good- views are gorgeous, place was a bit larger than expected, and well stocked with nice towels and decent quality toiletries! Overall impressed with the cleanliness especially given it being a cabin in the woods.

The Bad- while it was clean, there was broken furniture (upstairs dresser) and stains on the couch (probably unavoidable!) . I was also concerned to learn (while checking out) that even in a Covid world duvets aren’t washed between guests (based on their rule book). This seems a bit irresponsible and given the high rental cost and cleaning/management fee also seems off.

The frustrating- the AC is off when you arrive so for us that meant that the house was 87 degrees. It took the entire first day to get to a comfortable temp. (I get it's a rental, but maybe if they set it to like 78 or something to keep costs low it wouldn't be so bad?) Also-The rules clearly state no partying and music outdoors so I will completely own that I misinterpreted and thought it was to dissuade a rowdy crowd and meant to be courteous adults there relaxing (seemed reasonable). This comment is not to complain, but to make potential renters aware in the event that they interpret that rule the same way that I did apparently it truly means 0 sound at any time outside. During our stay (at 5pm on Sat) we were sitting on the dock chatting and listening very quietly to 3rd eye blind and Jack Johnson (super tame and relaxing). I went inside to learn that in a 20 minute span I received a voicemail, text, Airbnb message, and everyone on the WiFi received an email telling us to stop partying ASAP. I get that it isn’t a party house, but that isn’t what we were doing. So, I just wanted to make sure everyone looking to rent knows that you must be incredibly quiet outside, because of this experience it became to the point of walking on eggshells for us. What’s the point of having awesome outdoor amenities if you can’t enjoy them quietly during the day?!

Overall, I would recommend this place if you’re looking for a quiet retreat with wonderful views where you plan to remain indoors and enjoy the beautiful nature of WV away from the home.

Edward (review from Airbnb)
We had a mixed experience at this cabin. Let me start with the great stuff:
- The view of the lake is beautiful from both floors of the cabin
- The lake itself, with the beach and the little dock, are great to play in with kids. The tubes and sand toys that come with the house are great, and we had a lot of fun relaxing down by the water.
- The location is close (30 mins or less) to lots of great stuff - Harpers Ferry, a section of the Appalachian Trail, plus vineyards and restaurants in nearby Hillsboro and Purcellville. We never lacked for things to do.
- Communication with the hosts was very clear and quick. Check in and out was very easy. They fixed a WiFi issue in very short order.

Lots of great memories on the lake and exploring the nearby area. And while the negative parts of the stay didn’t impact any of that, I think it’s worth sharing our experience so that future renters know what they’re getting into. The biggest issue is there’s a big gap between how the inside of the cabin is presented in photos and what it is actually like inside, and they’re charging far too much for the quality of the house. A few reasons why:
- Cleanliness: the house is generally very dirty. The couches, cushions, carpet, and rugs are covered in stains and generally dirty. All could use being replaced.
- General quality: much of the furniture is broken (drawers that are missing or don’t work, closet doors off the rails, etc). The beds and pillows are uncomfortable, there are pieces of the bed frames that have been taken off and are lying around upstairs. There are two sliding doors to the outside, one of which is completely broken and another that is very hard to open and close. The teflon on the nonstick pans is cracking and coming off.
- Missing things: the photos show curtains on the windows and lamps in the living room. Neither are there. They show Tupperware in the kitchen and a generally stocked set of supplies. There was no Tupperware (which is an issue if you’re doing any cooking) and there were only 2 mugs, which is tough if more than 2 people want hot drinks.

None of this would be an issue if the pictures were accurate or they charged a more reasonable nightly rate. But at the rates they charge, you would expect better quality of the inside of the cabin.

Response:
I waited to respond to this review until I had visited the house again just to make sure things had not wildly deteriorated as this review suggests. Having done so, I have to say that I disagree with much of this review, and judging from the countless positive reviews it seems everyone else disagrees, too. The cabin is as advertised. We upgrade furniture and make small changes more frequently than we upload new photos—it doesn’t make sense to pay a professional photographer to take new photos every time we get a new end table—but the cabin is at least as nice as or nicer than the photos show. Not only are the beds and pillows not uncomfortable, guests frequently comment on just how comfortable they are and even ask for the mattress brand so they can buy one for themselves (Tuft & Needle—I sleep on one myself at home and love it). One of the sliding glass doors does stick a bit when you open it, but both doors open completely. I did not see Teflon coming off the pans. We started with 12 mugs and I counted 5 while I was there: more than 2, but I agree not enough for a house that size. We’ve had an order of custom branded mugs that was a long time coming, but I just received those and dropped them off while I was there, so we're back to 12+. The most accurate negative feedback from this review is about the outdoor cushions: those do appear to have dirt stains that won’t come out. It’s nice furniture and barely a year old, but we’ll look for washable cushion covers to fix that. That said, the rest of this review seems unfounded to me.

Kit (review from Airbnb)
The place is very charming with access to a beautiful and pristine lake. Close to Harpers Ferry for adventurous activities but there is also plenty to do at the house. Our family had a wonderful time away!

Response:
Thanks Kit! I'm glad you all enjoyed the lake and made the most of your time. It's true that you hardly need to leave the cabin to have a great getaway! We hope to host you again soon.

Enrique (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful location, and a very enjoyable lake make it the perfect place for a peaceful sojourn and a great base for hiking in the area. Edward is always on top making sure you have a great stay.

Response:
Peaceful is the best word for it. Nothing beats sitting by that lake in the early morning or late evening. You're welcome back anytime!

Alexandra (review from Airbnb)
Awesome view of the lake and the listing is just as advertised! Clean and tidy and Edward was super responsive and helpful! The a/c unit definitely cools down the whole house if you keep the windows shut like the listing says to :) More than enough room for the 8 of us and we had a blast renting the boat from the Mountain Lake Club to go out on the water! About a 20 minute drive to Harpers Ferry National Park which is super cool as well. Perfect coronacation! ☺️

Response:
I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay! We'd love to host you all again soon.

Great place to stay. Enjoyed everything about this place. Great host

Lelia (review from Airbnb)
Perfect location for a socially distant get away. My kids (5 and 8) had an absolute blast on the private beach. The house was squeaky clean and had everything we needed.

Allie (review from Airbnb)
This place is a true gem. The lake view from the house and private beach access is incredible. My girlfriends and I could not have found a more perfect spot for our mini getaway. We spent the whole weekend floating in tubes on the water, hanging out on the screened in porch, or in the hot tub - it really had everything! The kitchen and bathrooms were very clean and the AC unit + ceiling fans were more than adequate for keeping the house cool and comfortable. Bug spray is a good idea but we didn't have a big problem with bugs. Six of us slept and shared the space very comfortably. All house deatils are thoroughly documented so we had no questions for Eddie during our stay though he was very communicative before the trip and checked in to make sure we were situated. My friends and I all agreed we'd 100% come back to this house!

Grace (review from Airbnb)
We had an incredible 5 days at this cottage, and had such a hard time leaving! The cabin is lovely and well-stocked with all necessities (and great wifi), which were much appreciated. We loved lounging by the peaceful lake, swimming in the (warm!) water, sitting by the fire, reading in the screened-in porch, and exploring all that Harpers Ferry has to offer. Eddie was very responsive and checking in was smooth and easy. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a calm and relaxing getaway.

Sammi (review from Airbnb)
My friends and I had a fantastic weekend relaxing at Edward’s beautiful lakeside cabin. The lake is quiet and serene, and we loved drinking our morning coffee on the screened in porch. The cabin is spacious, adorably decorated, and very comfortable. It also had everything we could possibly need, including a blender and coffeemaker!

Edward is a fantastic host. He communicated expectations very clearly ahead of time and was quick to respond to all of our questions.

I hope to visit again soon!

Greg (review from Airbnb)
A truly subpar Airbnb experience. To start, you have to really read the fine print. It’s advertised for up to 10 adults, but all that means is they thew 4 beds in an open loft that you can all squeeze in to. The house is much better suited for a maximum of 5 adults. On top of that, the air conditioning is a single window unit that doesn’t even temper the summer heat.

In addition, the host is beyond over intrusive. We woke up to a text reminding us to be quiet and that it was a tad noisy. However, there were no reports, we were inside, and asleep during that time. This gives the place an overall feeling of being monitored and watched by the host- very unpleasant, and a major intrusion on your stay.

For the price of this Airbnb, you would think they wouldn’t try and do simple things like water down the soap... would avoid staying here unless it is absolutely your last resort in the area.

Response:
I’m disappointed in this guest and this unfair review. I had a bad feeling when Greg’s group of eight twenty-something males booked our cabin for a weekend of gambling at the casino, but I accepted the reservation against my best judgment. On the first of three nights, Greg’s group was up partying past 2 AM, disturbing neighbors. While it’s true that no one reported them to the police, that’s hardly the standard. The next day I politely asked them to be more conscious about noise after hours. Apparently that was too much to ask. We only have to deal with guests who are overly loud about 5 times a year, and Greg’s group was one of those. I’m surprised at the rest of the review and can’t make sense of it except as a way to punish us for asking them to be a bit quieter. It’s hard to see how the review could have been made in good faith, but I’ll give Greg the benefit of the doubt and assume it was, and address each point in turn. There is no “fine print,” unless he means the house rules. That’s important information that every guest should read as a matter of course, but just in case they don’t, we explicitly instruct every guest (including Greg) to read the house rules after they have booked to ensure they are OK with everything that’s there. If Greg chose not to read the house rules then I don’t know what else we could have done. I ain’t too proud to beg: please, please, please read the house rules before you agree to them! If he had read the house rules then there would have been no surprises. I disagree that the house sleeps a max of 5 adults. We have over a hundred 5-star reviews from groups of 5-10 people. The layout of the beds and bedrooms is just as it’s portrayed in the listing photos and listing description. You have to actually look at the photos and description, but it sounds like Greg didn’t do that, either. The A/C in conjunction with the 6 ceiling fans keeps temperatures in the 70s during the summer. It’s certainly not going to cool the cabin down into the 60s, especially in the middle of a heat wave (temperatures were pushing 100 during his stay). We fully explain the A/C set up in the listing so that guests know what to expect. Greg would have had full knowledge of this if he had read the listing. We don’t water down soap. Not sure what else to say to that. Greg and I seem to agree on at least one thing: if you are looking to party late into the night and don’t care about disturbing neighbors with your noise, then this is NOT the place for you. However, if you, like 95% of our guests, actually read the house rules and are OK with them then everyone will be happy.

Eileen (review from Airbnb)
Wow - the perfect combination of rustic yet special. All the amenities we prioritized: swimming in the lake, hot tub, grilling, fire pit, were available yet we still felt cozy and remote. The house was very clean - a covid priority - and we appreciated having so many great outdoor options within 20-30 minutes. We felt there were plenty of options for a perfect covid-safe vacation with our three children.

Our children loved swimming off the dock - the lake is very clean and surprisingly warm! We brought large rafts and a blow-up boat, which allowed us to access deeper water for a really fun time. We also rented the Mountain Lake Club's boat for a few hours - it was a simple and friendly process.

Response:
So glad you enjoyed it to the max, Eileen. You really did it all by renting the clubhouse boat, too!

Pamela (review from Airbnb)
We have so much fun! .. is a great place to spend time with the family the view is amazing and the house was super clean....Eddie has a good communication with the guest !

Annie (review from Airbnb)
Had a fun weekend with friends! House was very clean and more spacious than I thought.

Response:
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It's amazing how spacious it feels compared to other houses of the same square footage. I think the cathedral ceilings are a big part of that.

Khue (review from Airbnb)
Pros: the location is nice and tranquil, the lake is pretty, the hot tub is a nice addition, the house is very close to downtown Harper's Ferry, the check-in process was quick and easy, Edward is very responsive in terms of communication.

Cons: generally, we found that the cabin was not properly cleaned. we found the following: hair from previous guest in upstairs bathroom, dried up macaroni from previous guest under the dining room table, finger prints from previous guest on the house tablet, dishes were still oily from previous guest (they did not wash them properly), old mice droppings in cutlery cabinet in the kitchen, sand in the hot tub from previous guest, stains on the carpet from previous stays. It did not seem like the cleaning company really cleaned the place. Showering in the upstairs bath is stressful, because at any time, the water can be freezing cold or burning hot if someone is using water elsewhere in the house.

Kelly (review from Airbnb)
Spent 3 glorious days as a family... 6 adults and 3 children. Plenty of space.... the screened porch and the lake were definitely highlights! Watching the grandkids play in the lake.... definitely amazing! Cabin was exactly what we needed.... Edward is an amazing host! Plenty of towels, so we never ran out. Had a couple of questions after checking in..... he always responded quickly which was definitely appreciated. Our group enjoyed it so much the family has requested that we book a longer stay next year! Already looking forward to it!

Great place for a getaway!
The house is so cozy and beautifully located right by the lake. Perfect place for a little getaway with your significant other or the whole family.

We had such a great time! Really great for our kiddo, as well as mom and dad. We feel rested and we already booked another trip!

Autumn (review from Airbnb)
This place had something for everyone: my daughter loved playing on the sandy beach, my husband enjoyed relaxing in the Adirondack chairs in front of the lake, and my favorite spot was curled up with a book on the screened-in deck (especially at night with the hanging lights and ceiling-mounted heat-lamp on). The built-in hot tub with breathtaking views of the Lake Shannondale was the icing on the cake. Eddie was welcoming and super-responsive. We hope to stay here again!

Frank (review from Airbnb)
Fantastic place with a magnificent view. Highly recommended.

Tara (review from Airbnb)
This cabin is a fabulous place for a socially-distanced getaway. We loved sitting by the lake with our coffee in the morning and a cocktail at night. We also had a great time swimming, fishing and using the hot tub.

One note for visitors in the coming months: you probably won’t see people using masks at all. We went to the Mountain Lake Club one day to rent a canoe, and none of the people in/around the facility used masks or practiced social distancing. Same with the corner store near the cabin.

What a cabin!
We had a fantastic time, the cabin is great and Edward was really helpful. A peaceful and comfortable cabin by the lake with great amenities. This spot is fantastic.

Brian (review from Airbnb)
Spent 5 days and 4 nights at this location as a getaway. Could not have been happier with the place, the amenities, and the vibe of the location. Really enjoyed the time.

Vincent (review from Airbnb)
About an hour and a half drive from DC, Eddie's cabin is situated on the perfect lakefront lot. Come here for peace and quiet, and the lake. The view from the living room is surreal, full-on water from every window. The home is quiet (you barely hear the wind) and the private waterfront area with little beach is one-of-a-kind. Neighbors are closer than they appear in the photos, but still felt very private. Expect a rustic-cozy cabin with all the essentials. Couches are comfy and the television and internet is great. I'd say there is room for up to six adults (two bathrooms), or four adults and some kids. Nice large kitchen that's stocked with a variety of pots and pans. The wood stove is beautiful and excellent at heating the living room during chilly nights. We came during cooler weather so can't comment on swimming, etc. Overall, we had a good time and would come back during warmer weather to enjoy the lake a little more.

Lindsey (review from Airbnb)
The house and spot on the lake was gorgeous! The beach and hot tub were added benefits. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Edward was very communicative and provided all the information we needed to make the trip easy and relaxing. Would definitely recommend.

Bridgette (review from Airbnb)
It was a wonderful stay and the house makes you feel taken care of. For an air bnb cabin, it is definitely on the “nicer” side compared to other places I have stayed. Overall, it was perfect and exactly what we were looking for as a weekend cabin getaway!

Aaron (review from Airbnb)
Our second stay at the lakeside cabin, and it was just as lovely as the first. It's a lovely property and a very helpful host -- we didn't think twice before booking it again.

Aaron (review from Airbnb)
We had an excellent stay at the lakeside cabin. The whole place is very cozy and comfortable. We loved the screened in porch, the hot tub overlooking the lake, the cute dock, the plush couches, all of it. We were "working remotely" and the internet worked very well for our purposes (e.g., two of us on separate videoconferences concurrently). The walk along the paved road that goes around the lake was great too, about 40 minutes long with nice hills and views, and friendly neighbours along the way. On top of all that, the host was very responsive and accommodating. Great stay.

Very comfortable great area to explore. Wish our weather was better to hike more

Toby (review from Airbnb)
This cabin is wonderful. We were worried about the possibility of winter weather disrupting our drive there, but it was so easy to get to via Waze or Apple Maps. Once we arrived, it was very easy to get into the house thanks to the clear directions provided by the host. The view of the lake from the house or porch is gorgeous - the lake is quiet and the porch is outfitted with lots of outdoor seating and a clean hot tub. The kitchen was outfitted with everything needed to cook including a small dishwasher. The two private bedrooms were cozy and clean and the upstairs sleeping area was a loft with lots of beds, perfect for quality time together with your people. We did a 3 mile run around the lake from the house and drove about 10 minutes to access the Appalachian trail for a beautiful hike. This place is great and you will love it!! Thank you for a much needed weekend of rest!

L (review from Airbnb)
This is a truly charming and quaint lake cottage, perfect for our winter getaway with our family. Nice toys and books for our kids, and the hot tub overlooking the lake was wonderful. I recommend this to anyone looking for a nice private place to stay.

Danielle (review from Airbnb)
This place is super cute. The deck overlooking the water is beautiful. Take care to read the very snazzy house manual available well in advance of arriving so you can both get in the house and operate the heat when you arrive. Edward was super responsive and patience. I'd stay again.

Mary (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful, comfortable home located right on the lake. Anything u need is available! Edward is quick with responses to any questions you may have. The surroundings and drive to the property are amazing. I will definitely use this property again!

Nicole (review from Airbnb)
We loved our stay at Eddie’s place! The wood stove was very easy to use and kept us warm even though the gas heater for the house was not working. The location is great with a wonderful view. The hot tub was easy enough to use as well, but our group had a few questions about hot tub maintenance that the host did not answer. The house was clean, thoughtfully supplied with everything we needed, and the perfect weekend getaway. Easily slept 7 people and could fit more.

Response:
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! I'm sorry again about the gas heater--it broke just before your stay and while I wasn't able to get it replaced in time for your group we now have a brand new gas heater to supplement the wood stove and baseboard heaters. As for the messages, it looks like there was just one message about the hot tub as you were checking out. I'm sorry I wasn't able to respond in time--I really do try to be prompt! Come stay again any time.

Liana (review from Airbnb)
The cabin is very sweet and cozy. The pictures and descriptions are super accurate. The hot-tub is amazing! We were a group of 12 and had a really great time. The host was very responsive and kind. Thank you!

Nicole (review from Airbnb)
There were seven of us who spend a winter weekend at this cabin. It was a great location and had all of the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. We really enjoyed access to the hot tub, and the kitchen was large enough to cook for a large group. We did have one small issue with the gas heater not working properly, but we were able to supplement with the wood stove to maintain the cabin at a comfortable temperature even in very cold weather, and Edward was quick to respond about our issue. Overall we would definitely recommend visiting this cabin!

Julia (review from Airbnb)
The cabin was beautiful and very clean! It is a great spot to relax, have fun with friends, and cozy up with your significant other.

Catherine (review from Airbnb)
This was a great stay for a few days away from the city. The hot tub was great on the colder nights and having the lake view to wake up to was amazing. Edward has a through list of instructions for the house that answers all your questions. There was also a handy tablet that had the guidebook for the house in case you needed to double check something.

Do recommend stocking up on groceries beforehand (skip buying condiments—there’s plenty in the fridge!) as it can be a 30ish minute commute to a larger grocery store. The house was well supplied, super clean, beds were incredibly comfortable and the coffee they had was delicious! If you’re looking for coffee in town, recommend Rations Cafe in Harpers Ferry. Definitely looking forward to staying here again

Kerri (review from Airbnb)
I loved staying at this cabin. The screened in porch was were our group of 6 spent most of our time. Just enough space for all of us. The hot tub and lake are great for fun without having to venture away from the cabin.

Vina (review from Airbnb)
My husband and I spent 3 nights in this cabin in winter time. The seasonal experience was perfect: snow, hot tub, fireplace, cup of coffee, a chill movie, barbecue. I couldn't ask for a much better romantic get-away!! I'm already daydreaming about my next trip here with friends. My only complaint is that the living area and the kitchen were not as clean as I expected: the sofa's were very dirty and some dishes in the kitchen cabinets were greasy from the past guests. If more attention could be paid to the cleanliness of the place it would be great!

It was really good. House is really good . Highly recommend!

Nadine (review from Airbnb)
First the house was exactly as the pictures, but the description is not accurate the house is for 12 people but if you are more than 8 pp you will be charged 50$ extra per person. The cabin is not clean at all we had to wash everything in the kitchen before using it and the furniture is really good and the most important this the sheet were dirty and had stain.
Last, before checking out I requested the host to allow us to stay 30 min extra since we were still having breakfast and we had to clean everything in the sink before we leave(even through we paid cleaning fee and service fee) and he didn’t let us stay so we had to rush and didn’t eat breakfast.
Don’t recommend this place

Response:
Few guests are so entitled as this one. The group showed up early, checked out late, and brought 12 people when the reservation was for 8 so that she could avoid the extra-guest fees. Because she is upset that we have asked her to pay the extra guest fees she is fabricating the problems she writes about in her review. Please skip ahead to any of our 100+ 5-star reviews. This was a 1-in-100 bad guest and she won't be welcome back.

This house is exactly as it looks in the picture plus all the cozy vibes you can't see! The hot tub was a great perk of the house and the quietness of the location was awesome! I was there with my wedding party (eight of us total) and we all fit very comfortably! Eddie was so quick to respond to all of my questions and had very organized guestbook with helpful tips for the area and instructions for check-in and check-out. Beds were super comfy and the place has everything you would need for a weekend stay! I would definitely recommend this place to others and will go back myself in the future!

You can't but have a good time at this spot, even in the cool brown days of Novem. The kitchen was stocked w great supplies. We like to cook as a family and we're very pleased with everything. The hot tub takes a little effort, especially for novices, but you get the hang of y and it shows an effo to do it right. We had a great time. I also like the ease of getting in and out.

Cozy, comfy cabin, great for a weekend getaway.

Andrea (review from Airbnb)
Really a lovely place for a quiet getaway. Responsive and professional host! Will stay again.

Chelsea Rose (review from Airbnb)
Lovely cabin! Our stay was absolutely perfect! Can’t wait to come back.

Jennifer (review from Airbnb)
This is a great value. The cabin is spacious and clean with comfortable beds and everything you might need. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to make several meals easily. Harpers Ferry is a short drive away and well worth the visit. There were six of us staying in the cabin and each person commented several times how nice the cabin and the view were. Each of us would return for another visit.

Paola (review from Airbnb)
Amazing place to disconnect and enjoy. Would come here again

Kenneth (review from Airbnb)
Amazing view. Great tv/WiFi setup. Walls are paper thin between the two bedrooms. Hot water is limited.

Michael (review from Airbnb)
Eddie's cabin is a perfect little getaway near Harpers Ferry. It was a short drive from DC, and we came as a pack of 8, which in my opinion was probably the ideal number of bodies for the size of the place. The place itself is adorable, with a nice cozy shared space, great view of the lake, and a fantastic hot tub. Everyone had a great time.

The host was very communicative. The cabin was well stocked with spare towels and TP and spices and so forth. Small detail but I've been in a good number of rentals that are totally barren. Anyway, it was a perfect long weekend away, and I'd absolutely recommend this place to any future guest and without reservation (no pun intended). Our thanks to the host for having us in his beautiful cabin.

Angela (review from Airbnb)
Great cabin getaway for our family of five. Enjoyed the views and peaceful area. Comfortable beds, clean linens. Soap and shampoo/conditioner in bathrooms were a nice touch. Could easily accommodate two families.

Joseph (review from Airbnb)
Great place to get away for the weekend with a big group. Beautiful cabin!

Emily (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful views of the lake, lots of space, helpful host! Highly recommend!

Brian (review from Airbnb)
Fantastic place! Very clean with great amenities. Beautifully set on the lake with tons of privacy. We stayed as a couple, but if you went with multiple people the value is impossible to beat! Ed was extremely quick with communication when needed and the welcome guide was very thorough. Was a fantastic time and we highly recommend it to anyone!

Tommy (review from Airbnb)
Eddie was great! Beautiful cabin.

Phil (review from Airbnb)
This is a great little cottage right on the lake, it has lots of space for families and is well cared for and clean.

Amy (review from Airbnb)
The house was charming and the location was serene. Edward was excellent about communicating quickly. He's very organized and shares a lot of info through a website. The house is a little smaller than what I perceived from the photos, but it was still a good size for the five of us that stayed there. Beds were comfortable and kitchen had what we needed. Note that we lost phone reception at a certain point and couldn't depend on GPS or call each other, so be prepared with an offline map of the area.

Will (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful lakeside location, cozy cabin with good amenities (hot tub, grill, games), and easy check-in. Had a great stay.

Yassine (review from Airbnb)
Third time staying at this cabin, as always an amazing experience!

Sun (review from Airbnb)
It's a very good cabin with nice view. The cabin is very clean and all you need you can find in it.

Shawn (review from Airbnb)
This is a beautiful cabin which is surprisingly spacious! I highly recommend spending a few nights here to enjoy the peacefulness of the lake and all the area has to offer. Everything was very well detailed with regards how to use everything in the cabin.

Nick (review from Airbnb)
This house was very comfortable for our 1-night stay, and we enjoyed the hot tub and lake. If you are planning on cooking I suggest you bring your own pantry items, as the pantry is not well-stocked.

Sergey (review from Airbnb)
This cabin offers everything you need to get away from big city life. In my case, my family came from overseas and It was a perfect place to catch up with them. It offers private access to the lake, which was a perfect spot to launch my paddle board and explore the surroundings by water. The hot tub was clean when we arrived and Ed provided all the instructions how to maintain it in a perfect state.
The cabin has all the amenities you'll need for the stay up to 8-12 guests including towels, toilet and shower needs, hot tub towel rack full of towels to use after getting out the water. Ed has a nice outdoor shower to wash off your feet before stepping into the cabin, so the sand situation indoors keeps to zero. The porch is a nice addition to the house where you can comfortably seat with 8-10 people. Be aware of late night noise when you play music, cause the proximity to neighbors is close. People who live around there wake up for work pretty early in the morning. It's not a party cabin, but a perfect family or close friends gathering house. I never met Ed, but it looks like the organization of the place has been put together with piece of mind. Thank you! My friends and family had a blast!

Pretty cabin in the woods
The cabin was lovely. We enjoyed the hot tub and lake. A few things about it that could improve was the condition of the furniture. The couches and chairs are old and stained as well as the very worn carpet. The water pressure was very low and couldn’t run two showers (or even a sink and shower) at once which created a long line of people waiting to take a shower. The well motor broke prior to our arrival and didn’t get fixed until the day before we left. The location is not really Harpers Ferry...it’s 20 minutes from Charles Town but really it’s Shannondale.

Response:
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! I'm very sorry again about the well motor--it ran fine for decades but, unluckily, broke just before your stay without our knowledge. Once replaced, though, the water pressure immediately returned to normal. We also replaced the couch, at your suggestion. I hope you will consider visiting again in the future! You're welcome anytime.

Shane (review from Airbnb)
Wonderful host and beautiful property. Plenty of wildlife and has all the necessities you could need and them some. Beautiful fireplace and the hot tub was perfect! Lots of neat gadgets around the house and Eddie explains everything very thoroughly. This property is a short drive from great hiking trails and wineries.

If I had to give a critical comment, you can’t really swim off the dock as the water is only a few shallow feet deep and has a muddy bottom.

Thanks, Eddie!

Brian (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful home and perfect location. Eddie was responsive and there to help throughout the stay as well as before.

Clare (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful lake side cabin. Kitchen had all needed to cook anything if wanted. All appliances working perfectly. The beds comfortable, hot tub luscious with great information on workings/ sanitation as well as private placement. Little beach, higher deck/ chairs for chill.
Any questions answered promptly.
Great property!

Monika (review from Airbnb)
The cabin was very beautiful, in a perfect and quaint location on the lake. Eddie kept us well-informed, and was very thoughtful, attentive, and communicative before and throughout our stay to make sure everything was ok. Would recommend to anyone for a cozy weekend away :)

Daniel (review from Airbnb)
Lovely cabin with a million-dollar view. Very quiet and restful. We and our kids had a great time.

Beautiful experience!

Yovi (review from Airbnb)
We really enjoyed this house though we got there too late to enjoy the fabulous location. We’ll be back for another stay soon enough.

Deedee (review from Airbnb)
My family of 5 (all adults) enjoyed the house. Great location -- we toured Harper's Ferry, went tubing down the Potomac, went wine tasting in Virginia and hiking in Maryland -- all 20 minutes from the house.

Beautiful view of lake from deck and screened porch. We enjoyed coffee on the small deck by the water. The lake is not great for swimming -- too many lake plants but it is a very peaceful setting. Very quiet neighborhood the week we were there.

Edward had everything we needed! A few very minor repairs would make this place perfect. We would definitely consider renting again.

Jimmy (review from Airbnb)
The house was the cleanest rental I have ever had on this site. Many thanks to the host.

Sheryl (review from Airbnb)
Edward’s place was nice and served our purpose for the weekend. It was a particularly hot weekend and not having Central AC was difficult but turning all the fans on did help. The water pressure and showers were disappointing as we had issues with more than one person showering at a time, and even then, the water pressure was bad. I did not realize there was no door to the upstairs attic where several of the beds were. The attic bathroom and room itself had slanted walls where larger/tall folks may feel uncomfortable.

Response:
Hi Sheryl, I'm very sorry your stay was less than perfect. It was incredibly hot the weekend you stayed there: 10-15 degrees hotter and more humid than it typically gets even in the height of summer, and that was compounded by the fact that you had a large group. The window unit and the fans are more than enough to cool the place during the summer in all but the most extreme heat. I'm sorry the weather didn't cooperate during your stay. After your group checked out I had a well technician follow up on the water pressure issue. It turns out that the well pump had broken just before your stay, and that's why the water pressure was so low. The pump has been replaced now and the water pressure is back to normal. It's true that the loft does not have a door to close it off from the stairs, and the loft does have slanted walls. I've tried to capture all of that in the listing photos, but I'll see if I can do a better job so that future guests aren't surprised. Thanks for the honest feedback. Eddie

Andrew (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful location right on the water. Edward is very friendly and quick to respond if you have a question about your booking. The wrap around deck and adirondack chairs make waking up w/ your coffee a nice treat. One minor thing to be warned - cell service is very spotty, though wifi is provided.

Kishan (review from Airbnb)
Loved it and will def come back

Erika (review from Airbnb)
This place was amazing. The views were better than expected, especially if you lay on the beach at night and look up at the stars. I wish we could’ve spent more time and explored more of what West Virginia had to offer. I highly recommend booking a rafting trip in the Shenandoah or Potomac River. It was the highlight of our trip.

Darrell (review from Airbnb)
A good time and a nice warm lake. I would recommend staying at this cabin. Eddie was a great host.

Emily (review from Airbnb)
Eddies place was great - good location, beautiful view, hot tub was fun. It’s a small house but has what you need.

Even better than expected
We stayed at this cabin for our annual Ladies Trip. We are a group of 30 something professional women who live in/near DC. We loved this cabin and may even consider re-booking for next year! Eddie was easy to communicate with and accessing the cabin was a breeze. The lake is beautiful, the hot tub is awesome and the beds were comfortable and clean. We were close to many breweries and wineries and had a great time enjoying drinks on the dock next to a fire each evening. This is a great place to stay!

Megan (review from Airbnb)
Wonderful cabin with a gorgeous view and outdoor areas!

Megan (review from Airbnb)
Perfect location! Beautiful cabin in the woods. We came here for a bachelorette and rented a limo to take us to a few wineries. It was a beautiful place to stay, very scenic, and our host was quick to respond when we had questions. Clean as well! The dock at the bottom of the porch area was my favorite part.

Samuel (review from Airbnb)
Great cabin in a beautiful area. Edward is quick to respond and an excellent host overall.

Makeda (review from Airbnb)
Beautiful cabin in the woods, and views of the water are breathtaking! It was perfect for me and my boyfriend’s getaway from the city, only about an hour drive from DC, we loved how peaceful and quiet it was with nice modern touches!

Abe (review from Airbnb)
The house is in a great location, with excellent outdoor space including a private lakefront beach area, a fire pit, and a wrap-around deck. We had a large group (12 guys), and we didn't feel cramped in the slightest. Everything inside the house was perfect for our needs--two bedrooms on the main level and a large room full of beds upstairs gave us enough room to spread out without bothering anyone that went to bed early, and the kitchen was well-equipped with all of the cooking essentials (dishes, utensils, basic spices, paper towels, aluminum foil, etc.). Eddie was quick with responses, and was especially helpful when we contacted him during the stay. I'd definitely recommend the home to anyone interested in a fun trip with an emphasis on spending time outside.

Kelly B. (review from Vrbo)
Perfect lakeside getaway for a group of friends
The cabin had everything we needed for a fun and relaxing weekend getaway. The lake served as the perfect backdrop for conversation, grilling and soaking in the hot tub. Would definitely come back again.

Bridgette (review from Airbnb)
My boyfriend and I spent one night at Eddie’s cabin for our anniversary and it was truly a cozy, romantic getaway. Before checking in, we hiked part of the Appalachian trail (also amazing) and enjoyed the lovely car rides around the area. That night we grilled kabobs on the deck, built a fire in the charming, old-fashioned fireplace and spent some time in the hot tub before settling down to snuggle and watch a movie. The next morning we drank coffee and ate breakfast by the little sandy beach area and soaked up the breathtaking lake views. It’s the perfect way to enjoy some romance with your partner!

Daniel (review from Airbnb)
Edward's cabin serves a perfect place for those looking for some private and relaxing time with some friends or family. I recommend it to anyone who has a chance!
Thanks Eddie!

Nicole (review from Airbnb)
Great home for a trip to Harpers Ferry or to just unplug. Plenty of space for our family of 4. We could have included another small family as well but also not too big for just us. The little sand beach and lake are lovely and the host has thoughtful touches around the place. The furnishings are very comfortable but not too delicate for kids. Great atmosphere. Well stocked. All around wonderful place to stay. Host is very responsive. We look forward to another visit.

Valerie (review from Airbnb)
Edward was a fantastic host and always quickly available for any questions we had. The location on the lake is perfect and we were pleasantly surprised by the sandy beach area. We would definitely recommend for a peaceful retreat.

Levi (review from Airbnb)
Oh.My.Word. Beautiful spot nestled in the mountains with a lakefront view. We loved watching the birds as they went around the lake and could not have asked for a more peaceful spot. Such easy app access which was nice since The first night we arrived it was a damp and chilly. We made some tinder and had the wood stove rolling which made it cozy in no time.

We came for a bachelor party and enjoyed a Round of golf In town at locust hill golf course, threw a couple bucks away at the casino, and took in the mountain air grilling on the deck.

Eddie had everything we needed in the kitchen to cook and miscellaneous coffee filters, condiments, coffee bean grinder, etc were there as well.

The bunks in the loft are super comfortable and with the wash room it’s nice there’s no need to navigate the stairs at night.

This would also be a perfect spot for a two family vacation with the 2 downstairs bedrooms and all the rugrats upstairs.

Aleksandra (review from Airbnb)
Ed's place is really wonderful! It is very comfortable, charming, nicely put together with a really well equipped kitchen. It is great for big group of friends or a romantic getaway. My friends and I had an amazing weekend hanging out, cooking, enjoying an outdoors hot tub and the view of the lake. I am really hoping we can make it out here again this summer.

Great place to stay! Easy check-in, clear house rules and directions, and a charming home!

Erin (review from Airbnb)
My husband and I rented this cabin for romantic weekend getaway to celebrate his birthday. It was everything we had hoped for and more. The backroads leading to the cabin were a bit daunting at first, not being accustomed to those mountain roads, but completely worth it upon arrival. Eddie responded promptly to a question we had once we checked in, although we found we hardly had to ask anything else because the guestbook tablet is so well setup and answers practically any question you could have during your stay. He also so thoughtfully had a bottle of wine for us, which after an afternoon of travel was so appreciated and made the check in day fabulous! The cabin itself is perfectly situated on the lake, with the most incredible views from the back deck. It also has the perfect balance of privacy, without feeling isolated. Inside was incredibly cozy, with a well stock kitchen, and all of the bedrooms were clean and tidy. The hot tub is extremely well cared for, and absolutely perfect to relax in and take in the surrounding views. The only disappointment of the trip was having to go back home! We definitely looking forward to going back again and would highly recommend!

Alex (review from Airbnb)
This is a fantastic cabin with an awesome view. Edward was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions. The house is clean and well stocked with some very considerate things like board games and amazon prime. The WiFi signal is fast as well. This cabin is great for a family trip or a romantic getaway. I hope to bring my family back.

Couldn't have been better. Had a wonderful time with a group of women who hot tubbed, ate, drank and celebrated our friendship in a beautiful location. Host very easy to communicate with. Space exceeded expectations. Everything you need for a get away. We hiked the AT from nearby trailhead. Would love to come back when it's warmer to paddle the lake. Plenty of wineries nearby if hiking isn't your thing. There was a great TV that we never used :) Wifi was perfect. The hot tub was the best part. Super nice fridge/coffee maker/blender.

Shannon (review from Airbnb)
Eddie was incredibly accommodating to our last minute reservation for a one night stay for our anniversary. The day I wanted was originally unavailable but he made it happen. We loved the hot tub and the lake view! Everything we needed was stocked and the cabin was very comfortable. Thanks again and we look forward to coming back with friends this summer :)

Rachel (review from Airbnb)
Cozy, wonderful cabin right on a gorgeous lake. Beautiful in the snow and we're excited to be back this summer.

Allison (review from Airbnb)
This cabin is an excellent get away for a group of friends or a family. The space is really well designed for groups who want to play games, chat and catch up, cook and generally enjoy each other's company. We stayed in the winter so didn't take advantage of the excellent amenities like the hot tub or swimming in the lake - but hope to do so in a future stay. Eddie is an excellent host and was really flexible with us - from allowing my group to check in early because of a storm that would have made travel difficult, to leaving a bottle of wine and local tips. Overall - a great stay, home, and host!

Katie (review from Airbnb)
Good times - snow and a hot tub can’t get much better! We had a mini-college reunion away from DC and enjoyed it immensely.

Gabriel R. (review from Vrbo)
Great spot for our holiday visit.
The property was lovely, clean and comfortable, with lots of room for our family get-together and a pretty view of the lake. The hot tub was a nice bonus! Heating was a little tricky (we had to keep the fire going or it got chilly) but the owner was very up front and communicative, and everything worked out fine.

Derek (review from Airbnb)
A great, clean cabin right on the lake! Definitely would stay again.

Great place to stay. 10/10 would recommend

Matthew (review from Airbnb)
AMAZING view and ambiance at Edward's place. Our only issue was an unusable hot tub, but Edward accommodated us for the loss of this amenity.

Nick (review from Airbnb)
It was a beautiful cabin in a stunning area. You definitely need to go to harpers ferry and definitely need a pair of hiking boots as the trails are stunning!! The wood stove is a little tricky but heats the place up great once it’s figured out. But it was a little unclean for my and my boyfriends liking. There were mice that ran around and the hot tub had a sort of green film on the water. So this may not be the place if you’re looking for a pristine trip. Also something we didn’t expect was that the Bluetooth lock on the door wouldn’t let us in until exactly 3pm so we arrived early and had to wait. Overall though it was a quaint cabin on a gorgeous lake and Edward did help us with the worries about the mice after we discussed it with him.

Response:
Hi Nick, Thanks again for staying at my place, and I'm glad you found the setting as beautiful as I do! Regarding the issues you describe, I just wish you had communicated them to me during your stay so that I could have fixed them ASAP. You did not tell me there were any issues at all until the morning of check out after a 4 day stay, and at that point there was nothing that I could do. You described the counter tops as being sticky, but had you alerted me to this when you checked in then I would have happily dispatched my cleaning crew to fix that. I am surprised, though, that you were unsatisfied with the level of cleanliness because my cleaning crew is very good, and all other guests who have left reviews have given us 5 stars for cleanliness and often describe the place as "sparkly clean". I do apologize again for the mouse encounter. That said, you were staying at a cabin in the woods in the wintertime, when mice come inside to get out of the cold: while we do everything we can to prevent mice or bugs from getting inside, it's impossible to do that perfectly all the time. Thankfully, the one mouse you saw was caught in a trap and it must have been the only mouse in the cabin since no one else before or after you has seen any mice or evidence of mice. Finally, yes, check-in was at 3 pm for your stay, so I don't think it is fair to have expected to get into the cabin any earlier, especially without first discussing it with me. This is another example of how better communication from you would have made everyone's experience better! Eddie

What a serene location! The property is perfectly situated on the lake so you get the water views from almost all the windows. Although only two of us were on this trip, the space could accommodate a large family, a couple small families, or just a small group of friends very comfortably. We brought some extra items, like our Ninja blender, only to notice they provided the same one! You really just need your toothbrush here as all accommodations are met. Edward was responsive, informative, and helpful right from booking until checkout. We look forward to coming back in the warmer months to take advantage of the deck and lake itself! Perfect getaway location from the DC area.

This is our new go-to!! Perfect for our family of four, but would still be great to bring more! I appreciated Edward's detailed description of the cabin which made me feel like I knew what I was getting myself into . . . he did not disappoint. It was very beautiful and clean, we had the secluded cabin all to ourselves, and they had everything we needed to stay in for a mini vacation. Personal favorites were the wood burning stove and the deck/hot tub overlooking the lake. Thank you, Edward. We hope to be back soon!

We rented this for a weekend with our family of 6 and our friends and their baby. We had a great time! The beds downstairs were soft and there were extra pillows and good bedding. The same for the beds upstairs - four beds, two double and two twins. They were perfect for the four older kids and the loft that they are in is very cool and has a nice bathroom. They had a blast up there and it was nice to have a separate area for the kids. The living room is nice and welcoming and cozy with lots of windows. The kitchen has been stocked with all of the essentials that you need to cook a decent meal. They have a nice deck which leads down to a fire pit and a smaller porch by the lake with a little beach and another fire pit! The kids loved swimming in the lake. There is also a hot tub. The first thing that we noticed was that the place was impeccably clean and was very welcoming. It was a short drive to Harper’s Ferry. We had a great time and would love to go back.

Khuram (review from Airbnb)
This place is incredible! Over the past few years, our company has conducted business retreats throughout Maryland, DC, and Virginia. However, Edward's lakeside cabin was hands down the best location we ever found. It's about an hour and a half from DC. The lakeside cabin is just perfect. The cabin looks new. The view is serene and calming. The hot tub was amazing. The rooms and furniture were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. We were able to get in and out of the venue using our mobile app so it was incredibly convenient. There's a side room outside of the house that lets you enjoy the nice weather while avoiding bugs. The wifi was very reliable. We were able to come in, unpack, grab a bite to eat, and get straight to work. We were focused, relaxed, and accomplished a lot in a short amount of time. The only downside is that there's no air conditioning which wasn't really a problem because we just opened the windows and the cabin has plenty of fans. The hosts are very responsive, helpful, and affable. This place is a hidden gem and perfect for anyone who wants to get away for the weekend and just chill out. Book this place now before everyone finds out about it!!!!
